Mitsukuni Tsujimoto
.Mitsukuni Tsujimoto is a trumpet player from Rumoi City, Hokkaido, with
a long-standing involvement in classical music. He began playing the trumpet
in junior high school and later joined the Tokyo University of Foreign
Studies Orchestra before becoming a member of the Shunyu-kai Philharmonic
Orchestra in 1996. At Shunyu-kai, he serves as principal trumpet and orchestra
director, earning acclaim for his performances in challenging pieces, including
the posthorn solo in Mahler’s Symphony No. 3.
Since 2021, he has been the principal trumpet of the Karuizawa International Music Festival Orchestra, directed by Seiji Yokokawa. Tsujimoto has also explored jazz, performing with Four Generations, a group of former T-SQUARE members, in Tokyo and Kumamoto.
In 2022, he held a solo recital in Yokohama, performing Arutiunian’s Trumpet Concerto with the support of the Embassy of Armenia, fostering cultural exchange. In 2024, he was selected for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs International Cooperation Fund and traveled to Kazakhstan for the Japan-Kazakhstan Cultural Exchange Concert, performing in four cities with the Kazakhstan National Symphony and Shymkent Opera House Orchestra, and promoting cultural exchange at major universities.
He studied under Ottaviano Cristofoli, solo trumpet player of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra.
